Hello!
We have been trucking along in math this week, working on equations and beginning algebra. We are almost ready for our patterns unit test next week! Also everyone has steadily improved on their multiples, this week was times 8.
In language arts we looked at adjectives and synonyms, creating acrostic poems with out names. We started with an acrostic poem about Ruth King.
We also added our first piece to our wonder wall!
In science we investigated how to clean dirty water. We used oil to help separate solids from our dirty water mix, though some spillage occurred. Then used a sand and gravel filter to help clean the water. It took a few times, but we noticed that each time through the filter made the water a little clearer.
Unfortunately our water still smelled, so we finished off our experiment by adding charcoal to the mix. Each time we put our water through the filter, less cleaner water was produced. Some students had mixed results, but overall our water became clearer!
Our class has just started our natural resource unit for Social Studies. This week we looked atwhat we already know about resources.
They will be creating 4 small projects for each natural resource we look at (Energy, Mining, Forestry, and Fish). Eventually we will be creating a booklet out of our information. Each week we will look into a different resource, should be a lot of fun and informative.
And finally our class puzzle is coming together, only a couple more pieces left! It sure makes our door a lot prettier.
Next week we begin our resource project by looking into different energy resources, look at evapouration as a method to separate a solution, begin our words their way spelling unit, look at subject and predicate sentence forming, multiple and practice our 3 times tables, finish off our pattern unit in math, and watch Mr. Kaercher get his legs waxed! Looks like an eventful week ahead, can’t wait!
