Hello!

A little late this week, but better late than never.

We finished off our fraction and decimal unit this week, reviewing what we have learned so far: Equivilent fractions, comparing fractions, turning fractions into decimals, comparing decimals, and adding and subtracting decimals. We also started looking at collecting data and information using surveys.

We started using toondoo to make online comics. So far it is fun to use, yet some challenges with saving our work. I may change our comic website next week if we cannot resolve the issue.

Science venture visited the school on Tuesday, and our class participated in the School of Rocks activity. We learned more about the rock cycle, some of the properties of different rocks, and how to use environmentally protective techniques to mine for precious materials. The students really enjoyed the mining acrivity.

We took part in the election process this week, as we reviewed our federal election parties, discussing and debating their platforms. We participated in a mock vote, where students were able to vote for their favourite party. The Green party was victorious, winning our riding by 3 official votes.

And in art, we finally finished off our 3D perspective art! They are displayed outside our classroom.

Next week (now this week) we will finish off our government work in social studies, look into bar graphs and probability in math, continue working on our comic in language arts, and start our rock PowerPoint projects in science.

Hope you had a good weekend. Fun Fair is Thursday, Track day is Friday.
